About the play:

A new work by local playwright Margaret Shearman, Confetti is the story of Audrey, a senior citizen who has voluntarily checked into The Haven seniors residence to avoid money-grubbing family members. When they find her, Audrey leans a little too heavily on her grandchild, leading to conflict and the surfacing of true feelings.

Characters

(Note: Open to any gender. Character names are dependent on actor selected to play the role):

Audrey/Aubry (75+):

The Haven’s newest resident. Crotchety but kind, and also a little sneaky. Loves salt, hates doctors orders, and befriends the staff. Definitely does not like most family members, and even bans them from seeing her. Only likes her grandchild Jordan.

Sandra/Sandro (40-60):

Manager of The Haven. Pleasant and professional, but approachable.

Vivian/Virgil (45-60):

Audrey’s child. Nosy, opinionated. Cares deeply for Audrey, but in all the wrong ways.

Jordan (25-35):

Audrey’s grandchild and Vivian’s child. Very close to Audrey, and functions as mediator between family members.

Lou (45-55):

Nurse and long-time employee at The Haven. Friendly and professional, and knows all the residents.

Jen/Jon (25-35):

Another nurse, newly hired though with some experience. Has problems maintaining objectivity where Audrey and Vivian are concerned.

Auditions are open to everyone regardless of background, race, gender, orientation, or ability, including those who are LGBTQ+, BIPOC, two-spirited, white, cisgendered, and disabled. Please let us know if any accessibility requirements, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
