Synopsis:

On September 2, 1930, a scientific expedition to Antarctica helmed by three professors from Miskatonic University set sail. On January 26, 1931, tragedy strikes as a brutal storm devastates the team’s camp, resulting in almost a dozen casualties… at least that’s what the official news stories said. The true story is one that Professor Dyer, one of the survivors of the expedition, had sworn to never reveal to anyone. But with word of other expeditions aiming to follow in their footsteps, Professor Dyer must take to the radio and warn any and all listeners of the dangers that lurk within the frozen desert of Antarctica.

Character Breakdowns:

PROFESSOR DYER (45 to 55): A geology professor at Miskatonic University, the de facto leader of the expedition, and the featured guest on Chester’s radio show. A generally calm individual with a great zeal for his career and discovery, he recounts the events of the expedition with wavering stoicism.

DANFORTH (25 to 30): A graduate student of Miskatonic University and member of the expedition. Bright, intuitive, and loyal to Dyer, they cautiously persevere throughout the duration of the expedition for better or worse.

PROFESSOR PABODIE (40 to 50): An engineering professor at Miskatonic University who developed a special drill used in the expedition. Focused and practical, he is the one to tell it like it is when things go wrong.

PROFESSOR LAKE (35 to 45): A biology professor at Miskatonic University. Intelligent, passionate, and personable, Lake is the one who makes the discovery that would not only change the scientific world of biology, but also the lives of their team.

CHESTER (35 to 45): The radio show host. Professional, amiable, and melodious as old-fashioned radio announcers ought to be, he presents Dyer’s story to his listeners with the appropriate atmosphere and deference expected of someone in his position, and any initial skepticism turns to genuine intrigue.

NATHAN REED (35 to 45): A news anchor who reported the events of the expedition as it happened. Matter-of-fact, impartial, and deferential to the subject matter of what he reports.

LARSEN, MCTIGHE, SHERMAN, GEDNEY, ROPES, WILLIAMS (25 to 30): Various members of the expedition. Some cast members will double up with one or more of these characters.
